Prices: Bulgaria vs. Alps

It has been speculated lately that a ski/snowboard holliday in Bulgaria is more expensive than in Alps. Generally, this is not true because prices are about 10-20% lower in Bulgaria on the average.

Family Holiday

The smallest price difference is in ski lift passes and hotel / accommodation. For example, hotel prices in Bulgaria are about 25-30 euros per person/night while in Austria they are about 35-40 euros. Still conditions and infrastructure in Austria are much better. The price ratio for ski lifts passes is similar. But again conditions are much better in Austria.

Thus if you are a family guy and your main expenses are for accomodation and ski passes, it might be worth to consider a more civilezed destination (Alps) at a little bit higher price.
However, night life costs much less in Bulgaria. Alchohol is much cheaper and there is plenty of night clubs and bars in the ski resorts. For example, a beer in Bulgaria will not cost more than 1-2 euros while in Italy it will be more than 4-5 euros. If you drink 5-6 beers a night it will make a difference :)

Thus if you are a party animal Bulgaria is definitely your choice. You can probably party and snowboard for less money than you could only party in your home town. Still, have in mind that only the toughest surive in Bulgaria. If you are not sure what this means, choose another destination.
